Style In An Instant Dress

Style In An Instant Dress

A couple of weeks ago JoAnn had a 70% off sale and I picked up this fabric from ‘Style In An Instant’ (good thing it was on super sale, because $28.44 is a bit too expensive for my taste!)

Sew simple!

This fabric is so simple! It’s already shirred and conveniently for me – in a long length. I just held it up around my body too see how much I needed and had them cut that. All you really have to do is sew it up the back and that’s it! I hemmed the bottom, added straps and put a slit in the back. At first I didn’t have a slit but realized I couldn’t actually walk! HAHA… Fixed that real quick and had a dress that took about two hours to make!

Front ... yeah I got some sunshine!

Back and Slit.

On a side (but very important) note, a week ago today was my 2nd wedding anniversary! I wore the dress out to dinner with my husband and we came back for a make shift photoshoot. Typically he’s the photographer but this time we had to use timed shots and in a dark-lit area, so ignore the weird lighting 🙂

2 years in and still love this guy like crazy!

And of course Guinness had to get in the shot! We tried to recreate a photo from our wedding day:

  1. Awwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!! Guinnesss!!!!!!!!!!! So cute, I love your little dog! Upstaged by your dog, happens with me and Kitty ALL the time. But, on to your dress. It looks so good on you!! I have fabric just like this!! I bought some in a blue, vaguely floral print and thought the same thing you did, how easy to do, just wrap it around and add straps! Not sure my fabric is that long, so I would likely not need to add the slit. Happy 2 year anniversary. 🙂

  2. Amy I love the dress…and love the wedding pic and then the 2 yr pic…you guys look so in love…I am happy for you…love mom

  3. Love the dress! Those shirred fabrics are always crazy expensive but so tempting 🙂
    Congrats on the wedding anniversary!

    1. Thanks! Yeah, I couldn’t ever justify the cost of them but at 70% off I figured why not!? 🙂

  4. I discovered the same thing! Great dress and perfect length but then I couldn’t walk, haha. I made it into a side slit and will add straps later. Love these style in an instant fabrics, but only on sale, ;).

    1. Next time I’ll do a side slit, I feel like with it on the back my butt may show. Then again I removed the straps, so I could just slide the fabric over so the slit is on the side – duh lol. But yeah, totally agree – great if the fabric is on sale!
