Patterns For Pirates – Sweetheart Dress (Bonus: Peg Leg Shorties)

I’ve been trying to post each Tuesday but my super awesome hosting company (notice the sarcasm) had some server issues and my site has been down all freaking day. All of my sites. I’m really not happy. Do you have a great web host that you use? Let me know in the comments because I’m debating on switching. It will be a massive pain, but it might be worth it. Anyways, onto this dress! Obviously, it’s a throwback because I don’t have my rainbow hair anymore and I’m a few pounds heavier now!

This dress is the Sweetheart Dress* from Patterns For Pirates*. If you remember, about a year ago I posted the shirt option and promised to post the dress option soon after. Oops! Sorry I’m super late – I’m forgetful.

I made two different dresses, both are with a ponte. Ponte was made for this dress! The dress features a very full circle skirt and looks adorable on. It’s really not much fun on a windy day though…

But I found a fix for that! Their Peg Leg Shorties*! These are free too – score! This way, when the wind starts blowing all of it’s rage (or even a gust, seriously, a gust) no one with see your knickers!

When I made this my measurements were 46-30-39 (hmm, now my waist and hips are a full inch bigger – I blame my hypothyroidism and not my lack of self control with ice cream and desserts – haha! In all seriousness, I am happy with my body – no worries!). According to P4P this put me in a M-L-M but I just went with M graded to L at the waist and hips. With a circle skirt you really don’t have to worry about the hips portion.

I feel like with the patterned dress the waist looks weird where the seams meet. I might just be picky. On the black one this belt is perfect. Good thing I lost the damn thing about a year ago.

I really wish I could remember where I put all of my junk. I’m straight up in the beginning stages of being a hoarder. But not with my fabric dear husband!!! In that department, I’m a fabric collector.

And that’s it! I ran out of pictures. Overall – great dress and shirt. It’s super easy to make and flattering for every size. This is perfect for summer too! If you haven’t yet, start following me Instagram. I have been posting a lot of “behind the scenes” stuff there. Also, it’s 99% sewing related – YAY!

*afflink – I paid for the patterns and all my fabrics myself. Except the Peg Legs, because that shit was free
