Colette – Moneta

I’ve decided I’m only sewing one pattern for the rest of my life – the Moneta from Colette Patterns. Once again, I’m late to the game. This pattern has been out forever and everyone raves about it, I know why. This might be a “basic” pattern but it’s everything. I made Version 2.

If you remember, I’ve actually made this dress before and blogged about it a tiny bit. I was lucky enough to be published back in November (in Sewing World Magazine) and have been making this dress since. I’ve made a total of 6 of these! I think that officially marks it as my most made pattern ever!

That said, I’m super lame and only showing you three of them. I haven’t had time to take pictures of all of them but trust me, these are the top 3 anyways. The others are just a basic floral, a black with white stripes and an abstract print that looks like a skyline. All of those were stash-busting fabrics.

This Banksy fabric is from KNITourious Fabric and I ordered it the same time I ordered Andres’s swim trunk fabric. As I said in that post, we love Banksy and he’s badass. I don’t want to bore you with too much redundancy. I wore this while in Las Vegas for the Gwen Stefani show and I had quite a few compliments! It was mostly from the high-end designer store employees too, which made me feel special since I can’t justify (or afford) any of their items. Still, here I am modeling some shades I wanted but don’t think $500 is a fair price! (Wonder if those employees were just trying to butter me up for commissions?!)

Speaking of Vegas, here I am with my friend Jessica:

Onto the details of the pattern. I am size 36-31-40 and I made a size small bust graded to large waist and hips. This is the perfect size for me. I guess if I wanted the skirt to be less full I could go with a size medium since it’s gathered. Overall though, I like how it is currently. The bodice is unlined and guess what? POCKETS!

It calls for clear elastic but when I used it, it itched me. I opted for braided instead and went with 29″, overlapped by 1″. It’s perfect.

I don’t really know what else to say except this is a super fast sew, crazy simple and very flattering!
